The Ibex 35 has fallen 1.06%, to 8,036.40 points, and falls 2.3% in the week. The selective thus loses everything it earned in the first week of the year, when it rose 4%. The words of Christine Lagarde, president of the European Central Bank (ECB), lowering optimism and warning of the "serious risks" to the economic recovery that the pandemic implies, have not convinced investors.

In addition, the European Union wants to further limit travel considered "non-essential" within its territory, although the 27 have pledged not to close internal borders so as not to damage the common market and protect the economy.

All these factors, caused by the virulence of the third wave of the pandemic, have affected market sentiment. For example, BBVA has cut its growth forecast for Spain in 2021 to 5.5% from 6% due to the greater-than-expected impact of the pandemic.

Within the selective, the strong falls in tourist values and banks (the sector has fallen by 2.5% in Europe) have stood out, while only two titles have risen, with Cellnex leading the way.

In the Continuo, Solarpack, Grenergy and NH have fallen strongly, while Prisa has exploded after the entry of the French group Vivendi in its capital, which in turn has caused falls in Vocento.

In the US, highlight the InteleIBM accounts, which were published last night on Wall Street. Intel is down sharply, but after finishing up 6.5% yesterday as results were leaked ahead of the close. IBM, for its part, is sinking because its quarterly revenue has fallen short of consensus estimates.

In Spain, investors are already looking to next week, when the figures for Bankia, BBVA, CaixaBank or Siemens Gamesa, among others, will arrive.

On an economic level, this Friday the market's focus was also on the preliminary PMI activity indicators for January, with falls in manufacturing and services in the Euro Zone due to the increase in restrictions due to Covid. However, they have been above expectations. In Germany, the drop in both the PMI for services and manufacturing has attracted attention. In the latter case, it has also been below expectations.

Regarding the technical aspect of the Ibex, the selective lost yesterday the support of 8,200 points and now it seems "very probable" that we will see an attack at the level of 8,000 points, point out the technical experts of Bolsamanía.

At these levels it would be important for us to see the return of shopping again. "If it cannot be held in these prices, it is very likely that we could end up seeing an extension of the falls to the lows of last December 21 that would draw at 7,663 points," the analysts warn.

In other markets, Brent oil fell 1% to $ 55.54, while the euro appreciated 0.1% and traded at $ 1.2173. In addition, the profitability of the Spanish 10-year bond falls to 0.12% after the rebound of the previous day.
