Very busy day in the Spanish stock market this Tuesday. The Ibex 35 has advanced by 0.86% and has remained below 8,000 points despite the rise of Naturgy (+ 15.48%), which has received a partial takeover of 22.69% of its capital, to 23 euros per share, by the Australian pension fund IFM. PharmaMar has also made the news, which has started trading half an hour late and has also risen high on the stock market (+ 21.14%) after the magazine 'Science' published a very favorable article on the use of Aplidin against Covid-19.

In general, the set of European stock markets has closed with similar increases, and has closed a streak of three negative sessions due to doubts about vaccines and the advance of the pandemic in the world. On the other side of the Atlantic, there is also uncertainty about the size of the next stimulus package, which could be less than the initial figures of 1.9 trillion dollars that are being considered.

As for the macro references of the day, Spain has been the 'ugly duckling' for the International Monetary Fund (IMF). The agency has revised down its GDP forecast for our country, which will "only" rebound by 5.9% this year, 1.3 points less than expected in October.

For the economy as a whole, the agency has revised the growth projection upwards to 5.5% in 2021.

For its part, the unemployment rate in the United Kingdom in November rose to 5% from 4.9%, but fell below the 5.1% forecast.

In the Davos Forum, the interventions of Ana Botín, president of Santander, and the Managing Director of the IMF, Kristalina Georgieva, stood out.

This Monday, Christine Lagarde, President of the ECB, reiterated in Davos her message of the need to bet on a "very active" fiscal policy to overcome the crisis.

And after Italian Prime Minister Guiseppe Conte announced his resignation last night, the markets are once again focused on Italian politics.

"Conte's resignation should be seen as an attempt to re-head a new government (...). It is expected that President Mattarella will give him the first opportunity to form it," explain the experts at Danske Bank.

Regarding businesses, Microsoft's results are published today (after the closing of Wall Street), while those of Apple will be known tomorrow. In Europe, it has released its UBS figures.
